What we do
- Find and support candidates. We recruit Democrats to run for local boards and commissions and nominate our slate for municipal elections.
- Help people vote. We help residents register, understand their options, and get to the polls.
- Connect neighbors to their government. We share information about town meetings, budgets, and referendums so residents can take part.
- Support Democrats up the ballot. We work alongside candidates for State Representative, State Senate, Congress, and statewide office.
What we believe
- Excellent public schools are the foundation of a strong town.
- Town government should be transparent, careful with tax dollars, and open to every resident.
- New Hartford's rivers, forests, and open space are worth protecting.
- Local decisions are best made by people who show up, listen, and do the homework.
- Everyone is welcome here, whatever their party, background, or how long they've lived in town.
A note from our Chair
New Hartford is a small town, and that's our strength. The people who coach our kids' teams, serve on our boards, and show up at town meetings are the same people who make this committee work. Whether you've voted Democratic for decades or you're just curious, we'd love to meet you. Come to a meeting, bring a question, and see what we're about.
— Kristin Young, Chair
What is a Town Committee?
In Connecticut, each political party has a town committee in every town. Town committee members are elected by the party's registered voters, typically every two years. The committee endorses candidates for local office, elects delegates to party conventions, and organizes party activity in town.
